last week fru and i were invited by barbara salvadori to go to a meeting with lcc’s sustainability committee. the point of the meeting was to discuss green week, which takes place in all six colleges from 6th to 12th of february 2012. the theme for next year is going to be you can make a difference, and the aim is to focus on the individuals contribution and the small personal differences we can make. the intention is to take over all of the gallery/exhibition spaces around college and fill them with installations, pop-up shops, workshops, there will also be a series of talks throughout the week.

let me know if you are interested in participating, have any ideas, ongoing or completed projects of any size (tsvetetlinatom@googlemail.com). the next ual committee meeting is on the 12th of january 2012, but the lcc committee will get together again on 10/01/12.

here’s a project i found very inspirational

hello,

during the past few weeks i have been working on a music video for L.A. artist BLU. the video is shot against a white backdrop, and i have been illustrating the white background. it’s not paid, but i learnt something new, and will be credited. it’s exiting and intense and i must say i am enjoying my new skill.i am afraid i can’t post any snapshots until the video is released (boring).

last week i rejoined lifeBeat for a football game between facilitators, the youth and nomura (one of their sponsors). lucky for me i wasn’t playing, but documenting the event.

i have been taken on bord a BEAUTY project, for which GILLES & CECILIE STUDIO  were recruiting students to participate. our the briefing is on friday and the project will run until the 10th of november.i am really really looking forward to it.

also have been in the studio with fru, photographing our work, and preparing to build a website.

postmodernism at the v&a made my heart skip a beat, it is so beautifully presented, and so overwhelming that i will need to go back and see it again.

hello there,

i got back from just under two months of travelling in south east asia on friday last week.

i travelled through thailand, laos and vietnam.

almost too good of an experience, that seems so far away and unreal at the moment.

two bad things happened though, one of them was loosing my i-pod and the other was having my wallet along with my usb inside it  stolen. on it were about 6500 photographs and a good couple hours of footage from my trip that i was planning to work on throughout the year. anyway slowly got over that, and am still planning on making a project out of it. things happen for a reason as we say and i guess it was about time something like that happened, so that i will finally learn to take  better care of my things.

it’s taken me a while to settle back into this reality.

during the past week i visited the london book art fair at whitechapel gallery, mindful at the old vic tunnels, unlasted at hanmi gallery, and mind over matter at kemistry gallery.

i am currently looking through some of my old and current work as well as the work that fru and i have done together so that i/we can get started on building a website.

i have just applied for an animation job for ruff mercy, which tutors joel and alex recommended.

let’s see how that goes.

the last few weeks in short:

i am travelling through asia this summer.
i am in beautiful thailand. i’ve been in bangkok for five days now, the day after tomorrow i’ll be on my way to ayutthaya, sukhotai, chiang mai and from there to laos, vietnam and possibly cambodia (haven’t planned that far).
will attempt to read war and peace on my travels.

two days before i flew to bangkok i came back from leichershire, where fru and i spent eight days volunteering for lifeBEAT, a truly magical experince.

i apologise that this post is so short.
there is so much to see.
i’ll try to write a little something everytime i enter one of these exotic places called internet cafes.
as much as wanted to leave you with a charming photo, i am finding it impossible to upload one.
considering current events in the uk i hope everyone is ok.
much love

hello everyone,

this is my first ever blog post (tragic i know),
so don’t be harsh.

i have a few things on at the moment.

1/

i had the  amazing opportunity to be part of an exhibition curated by

our imi third years,  create and nexus, called the space between.

a while ago i worked on a project with fru kenworthy-browne and elise anglert,

and this exhibition gave us a chance experiment with different ways of projecting the piece of moving image we had made,

and pushing an idea further.

here is a brief synopsis:

stop it.

an exploration of material and its origin, striving to fuse the hand rendered
with the digital and interactive.

three rules that determined the ways in which this piece developed.

found footage,
displaced sound,
a projection onto anything but a white wall.

so for the past couple of weeks we have been working on dismantling a  photocopier,in order to put a projector along with a few other bits of equipment inside it.

i had been longing to pull something apart all year, and then i get to pull apart a  photocopier.

i had the most amazing time doing that, while developing a new appreciation for the machine.

after that was all over with we had to start working on getting the copy button to trigger the start of the animation, which would be projected onto the ceiling.

that involved touching the surface on using arduino and max msp. we then had to put the outside parts, or shell as i called it back on.

the show is on until the 23rd.

2/

i am involved with a charity called lifeBeat-a charming group of people who facilitate creativity with teenagers between 14 and 18.

at the beginning of june fru and i went on a training course, and we will be part of the team working on camp one in leicestershire.

we leave next monday and we will be volunteering there for a week.

currently we are working on putting together a workshop for the camp.

3/

i will be going to thailand and australia over the summer, so at the moment i am also planning my trip.

i hope everyone is well.

happy tuesday.
