I’ve just finished my final issue with Port Magazine. I’ve really enjoyed being with Port but unfortunately it has to come to an end!

I have also been working on designing a wedding invitation for my cousins. It has just come back from the printers, and I learned the basics of an English wedding invitation, how it gives subtle hints to the theme of the wedding. And also designing for something very important means a lot of the time it is what the couple wants rather than your pitch.
It all turned out good, wasn’t happy with the bold pink border but that is what they wanted. I’m also working on their Malaysian wedding invite for them. It’s been exciting, I’ve never designed an invite and it required me to do a bit of research and looking for influences.

I started on May 14th. Worked on a few different projects from Crisis Action to Fair Finance and their Regal Egg Cups website which I got the chance to design! Learnt a whole lot more about designing for websites and how they’re built. Provokateur have been very busy recently, a lot of projects going on at the same time! Not sure if branding is quite the thing I’d like to do, but glad I managed to see what its like before I make my mind up!

Here is the website for the Egg Cups, you must have a look at them, they’re for the Queen’s Jubliee and rather amusing illustrations of the Queen taking part in several sports!!!This is the holding page for now, the main website is still being developed and hopefully will go live by next week! http://www.regaleggcups.com

Taking part in an exhibition with another alumnus from my old school. They’ve recently refurbished a building and got exhibition space. So here is the invitation for that.

I also did a freelance job for XCITY magazine which is a magazine for alumni from City University. A little info-graphic, personally wasn’t that happy with it, but they loved it, so can’t complain!!

Also entered the Graphic Design D&AD brief with Cris Lu.

Port issue 5 is now out on sale! Yay.
I’m officially one of their designers now.
I also got the chance to go backstage to the Baartmans and Siegel fashion show, helped take a few backstage photos. Exciting and different experience than I usually get! Interesting to learn how it all works backstage.

Exciting news! The issue I helped with at Port is now out! It’s a really great magazine. If you’re not into men’s fashion you can still read the commentary, features and interviews! I was lucky enough to design the stockist page, I’m really proud of it.
I was also given the job of re-designing the magazine as a Kindle edition, it was challenging. Kindle is a really simple product, but getting the formats correct was a pain but in the end I got there!

This place is really fun to work at, its small but great!

Last week I finished the catalogue pitch for the international bank. Just sent off the mock up books to the bank the other day. Sounds like they’re really interested in it, hopefully they will say yes and we can get them printed.

This week I been working on Port magazine.  Flowing in real text, and placing images into the layouts. Learning the process of how the company works. Such a huge process… images have to go through so many people etc. I’ve got the job of re-designing the stockist page! I’m lucky to be designing a double spread in the magazine, even though its a not so important page at the back of the magazine, Kuchar said its the best stockist page he’s seen, I’m happy with it :) I had to manually fix the curly brackets I’ve used accordingly on the page…  Well you can all see it when the magazine goes to the press on November 2nd and released for sale!! Exciting, this issue is definitely the best one so far! Look forward to it!!

At Port Studio, working for DKW&R. Just finished producing a dummy catalogue for an international bank, reward program. This program rewards customers with gifts depending on how much the customer spends. This catalogue holds all the gifts. It’s was an intense first week, but I’m definitely learning loads, sitting in the studio everyday. I’m not working with Port Magazine, but just sitting in working on side projects has let me learn a lot about how a magazine company runs.

I’m looking forward to the projects to come!!

Just been reading this magazine about phenomena and strange happenings, ghosts and stuff as part of some research for my self initated project about the third eye and astral travel which, many would say is a strange phenomena. I really find this topic interesting, I get so engrossed in the stories, yet a bit creeped out! Anyone who loves creepy ghost stories should read this!!
