Hallo everyone,

I haven’t posted in way too long!!

So I finished my internship within adidas originals in Germany at the end of April.
During this internship I worked on many projects over all the different areas. So for the kids range we had a collaboration with Disney and I got to do the graphics for the whole collection. Not sure how many pieces there were in the end – but was quite a lot! Unfortunately I can’t post any images of the products I have worked on until they come into store next spring!
I also produced graphics for the women’s collection – again can’t show any images! But I did all overs that were used on loads of products from jumpers, to bags, to bikini’s, to shoes. As well as place prints for t shirts.
I know that there are a graphics that weren’t used in this season still floating around and might be used in the next – so can’t even show you the ones that didn’t make it!

So nearing the end of my internship they offered me a temp job for another 6 months. I made the incredibly hard decision of turning it down because I felt i need to do other types of design and find something more suited to what I want to do after my degree. I wanted to find something in branding, editorial design and overall more ‘traditional design’. So 2 hours later my big boss had got in contact with another department that do everything that was hoping to do next back in London. I had a coffee with a manager in this team and they offered me the same 6 month temp job. So basically i took it :) Thank you huge pay rise!

So now I am in the Brand Identity Department here at adidas. I have been here for a month and already worked on completely different projects. I have worked on a new logo, a new file saving system, badge design of an event here, among other things. The main thing I will be working on while here is the building of a new adidas identity platform. Basically this platform has all the logos on how they can be used/can’t be used etc. There is so so much information that will go onto this platform. As well as building the pages I have been asked to redesign the whole website itself. Been a pretty cool job so far. Again I’m not allowed to post any images. Sorry. But this week I got my best brief so far. The branding of the originals denim range. This includes the tags etc but also on the product as well, so the buttons, stitching on the pockets, the brand badge on the back etc. I’m really excited about this and should be really cool to work on.

So yea – thats what I have been up too in a small paragraph!

I have really enjoyed it over here, and although I thought i would go to lots of different places I’m happy to stay here, and even happier that I get to do what I wanted to do on much more moneys! Happy Days!

So if anyone wants to see what I have been doing drop me an email and I’m sure I can send out some screen shots. kirsty.alice.hopkins@gmail.com

ok Apologies for the delay in an updated post. here’s whats going on:

1-  Kinetica Museum internship is over i produced a film which everyone liked they also used all of my raw footage on their Vimeo account, i also produced a film and they featured it on their website http://www.kinetica-artfair.com/?blog.html with that film my 5 months with kinetica drew to a close which was good, as i was keen to move onto something new.

2- i finally started working with the light surgeons, for a few months now i have been working on their relaunch of their website which you can see here http://www.lightsurgeons.com/ with such a long journey to work with them working on their website almost felt a little bit of an anti climax in comparison to all fo the work i am  so interested in  featured on their site. however i got my hand on some useful tips and advice on working on video editing as well as back end website development which will prove useful in the future.

witnessing the process of getting jobs from clients and the role of a producer i realised the amount of work that preceeds the creative process which is truly excessive. and slightly creatively dampenng. i am on a little break from them at the moment s work is a little slow however i will be jumping back on board for post production work on a shoot for coco cola sponsored snowboarding film. i will update as of when i get images.

3- at the same time as this i worked na collaboratiive commission by southwark playhouse for a sound design job fo rthe theatre production Black Battle With Dogs, which was a priveledge but also a struggle. i am proud to say that my ideas were all accepted and despite not know ign how to use key software i managed to pick up how oto use programmes Qlab & Logic Pro in order to edit sounds that i as well as Sebastian Willan collected especially for this production. it was paid as well which  was a benefit  here are links that document images of the show a film including the sound deisng i collaboarted with Sebastian with and evidence fo my filming and editing and photographic documentation in practice plus reviews of our work

4- since this job my work in RAH (readahero ) has elevated from beign a mere intern to becomign head of design , our work with a revious web designer failed due to a lack of professionalism on their part. which teaches me a lesson that there are alot of people that claim they are professional but truly are not, this set back cost us dearly however we have found a new web design and aim to launch in august after many drafts and a successful soft launch earlier this year.

5- not sure if i mentioned earlier btu i am officialy workign for the olympics and i must suggest that you all must watch the openign ceremony as it will be amazing if what i saw comes into full flourishen.  the work demands of it are quite high and have put me in a difficult situation where i may have to quit my job to fullfil my commitment to them, so come july there will be a decision to make. illlet you know how that goes.

6- my second draft of my dissertation is going well but slow, chapter 1 is in its second draft however chaoter 2 & 3 are still to be written however all fo the artists i needed to contribute to my dissertation have contributed in primary research interviews which i am extremely happy with.

7- im still working retail at the same time pulling 7 day weeks.

8-  i decided to rake a week off since june last year and have a summer break and went to morrocco to indulge in some culture and food and get reacquainted with my girlfriend .

9- since i have returned i have heard of the Perception exhibition by RNIB for sensorial artwork and i am currently working on a sound and analogue haptic installation that i hope to submit and hopefully successfully exhibit and mayb document for my final year as a project for my BA. ill let you know if that goes through.

till next time … bon nuit

Hello one and all!

Here’s some of the single artwork I did for the very talented Ajimal;

I’ve recently been continuing to work on my own artwork, as well as my show that opens on the 21st of June at Space 54 on RIvington Street. I’m putting it on with 4 other artists as part of our Art is a Party Collective – look out for us around London in the next few weeks as we have some sneaky stunts planned to help promote the show.

It would be ace of base if you could like us on Facebook;

https://www.facebook.com/ArtIsAParty

and please do come along to the PV at 18.30 on the 21st it’s gonna be a hoot!

Hope you’ve all been enjoying the sun

So I’m getting a lot more responsibilities at Don’t Panic now. I’ve been asked to set up a new system for creating simple Post Campaign Analysis’s for clients, which involves a template I had to design. It means that people have to send all campaign information to me and I instruct people to get images for me, which isn’t really something I thought I’d have to do as a lowly intern.

Also, the lady in charge of sorting out some of the sections on the site is on holiday at the moment and has left me in charge of some of the competitions on the site. I feel pretty good about being trusted with these things, but they’re not really design-related. Good general work experience, though (and of course I’m still doing design work there as well in the meantime).

I started on May 14th. Worked on a few different projects from Crisis Action to Fair Finance and their Regal Egg Cups website which I got the chance to design! Learnt a whole lot more about designing for websites and how they’re built. Provokateur have been very busy recently, a lot of projects going on at the same time! Not sure if branding is quite the thing I’d like to do, but glad I managed to see what its like before I make my mind up!

Here is the website for the Egg Cups, you must have a look at them, they’re for the Queen’s Jubliee and rather amusing illustrations of the Queen taking part in several sports!!!This is the holding page for now, the main website is still being developed and hopefully will go live by next week! http://www.regaleggcups.com

So this morning I finally sent off my report(s)! Huzzah! I was really pleased with the finish and how they turned out. They look as good as they did in my head (thank god). Using my small amount of German, I managed to have a conversation with the man at the post office. I did ask him if he spoke English, his reply was “nein”.

My days are getting busier at work, and its great. I’m juggling quite a few projects at the same time, doing others whilst I’m waiting for feedback on something else. I’m really starting to settle in here at ESO and I’m really enjoying my job here. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful, It’s a great placement to have. I’ve been here for almost 2 months now, I think its only going to get better.

I got to do something very different today. I was asked to arrange the interior of the merchandise cabinet which sits in the foyer of the building. It’s okay considering the restricted items I had to work with and the lack of materials to actually show stuff off. I’m still awaiting feedback, which I’m sure I’ll be changing a few things.

It’s a long weekend this weekend, they seem to have twice as many ‘bank holidays’ here in London which is great! I plan to catch up on some sleep and spend more time outdoors. The small battery life of my mac tends to dictate the amount of vitamin D I get.

Ciao.

Hello from Eindhoven, NL. I’ve been interning here at Edhv for a month now, so far so good! If you don’t know there work check it out here edhv.nl. I’ve been working on a few different projects, and so much is happening in the studio. Also Eindhoven is pretty nice, with a thriving artist community coming out from the industrial city.

The SCC is the stored objects are kept and where most object-based research is completed at Horniman Museum & Gardens in Greenwich.  We had a very amazing tour with the collection management team; they talked about the collections including pest control treatment, photography, and reviews of the objects. Late anthropologists began to explain difference in cultures as reflecting people’s adaptations to their environment rather than of a linear cultural evolution. The objects began to be displayed as being representative of the different ways of life of people who made them. Curators nowadays seeks to understand other cultures view’s of the world and acquire objects which illustrates this such objects begin to show the staring of materials, ideas, across cultures brought to create a less ethnically divided world.
